Florida FIPA: 30 days

Florida’s Information Protection Act (Fla. Stat. 501.171) covers businesses that hold personal information about Florida residents. It expects reasonable security measures and notice to affected people no later than 30 days after a breach is determined.

Florida Bar Rule 4-1.6(e)

Florida lawyers must make reasonable efforts to prevent unauthorized access to client information. For most firms, that means encrypted devices, MFA, secure email and backups that actually restore.

What we will and won’t say

No IT company can make you compliant on its own; policies, training and your decisions matter too. We implement and document the technical safeguards and work alongside your compliance officer, attorney or auditor.

Every industry is experimenting with AI. The difference between a real time-saver and a data leak is usually the setup: which tools, which data, and who can see what. We help you choose, configure and govern AI for your line of work.

Industry IT support FAQ

What is industry-specific IT support?

It’s managed IT services shaped around how your industry actually works: the software you run, the rules you answer to, and the risks that show up most in your field. The foundation (help desk, security, backups) stays the same; the setup, priorities and advice change.

Which industries does NerdSquad support?

We have dedicated pages for financial services, medical and dental practices, law firms, real estate, retail, construction, manufacturing and logistics, plus a page for small businesses in any industry. We also support accounting firms, insurance agencies, professional offices and other local businesses.

Can NerdSquad make my business HIPAA, GLBA or PCI compliant?

No IT company can make a business compliant on its own, because compliance also depends on your policies, training and decisions. We implement and document the technical safeguards, and we work alongside your compliance officer, attorney or auditor. For medical and dental clients, we put a business associate agreement (BAA) in place before handling patient data.

What does Florida’s Information Protection Act require?

FIPA (Fla. Stat. 501.171) applies to businesses that hold personal information about Florida residents. It expects reasonable measures to protect that data and, after a breach, notice to affected people no later than 30 days after the breach is determined. Larger breaches also require notice to the Florida Department of Legal Affairs. Your attorney can confirm how it applies to you.

Do you help businesses use AI safely?

Yes. We help you choose AI tools that fit your industry’s rules, configure them so they respect existing permissions, write simple rules for which data stays out, and train your team. For healthcare, that means tools that will sign a BAA.

Is my business too small for managed IT services?

No. We talk with businesses of every size, from small offices to multi-location companies, and we only recommend what fits your situation and budget.

How quickly do you respond?

Managed IT clients are backed by an industry-leading SLA, with remote help for quick fixes and onsite visits from our Naples office across Southwest Florida. Your agreement spells out the specific commitments.

Which areas do you serve?

Our only office is in Naples. We serve businesses in Naples, Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Estero, Bonita Springs, Lehigh Acres and communities across Collier and Lee counties.

My industry isn’t listed. Can you still help?

Very likely. Most of what makes IT work is universal, and we’ll learn the parts that are specific to you. Call 239-465-0079 or send a message below.

Final element · Let’s talk

Find the right formula for your business.

Tell us your industry and what’s bugging you: a compliance question, a slow network, an AI tool your team already started using, or an IT person who just left. We’ll come back with honest advice and a practical next step.
